 'let our women be a little more equal'

 seems to be a good slogan.  

 1. make our girls brave. 

start early. do not instill fear in them when they are children . this is for the parents to ensure. especially mothers. here in kerala i have live examples of how girls are taught to be afraid . of many things. from the day they learn to listen and understand.

 2. keep up a running dialogue. 

there is nothing that a girl or a   boy for that matter should not share with us parents. we know that . but they don't. at that age. find and use methods to encourage children to share everything with parents. again another action point for parents.

3. let them meet . 

it is important for  boys and girls to meet and know each other especially in their teens. keeping them in unisex schools or colleges does more harm than good. familiarity breeds respect. none dares to misbehave with someone he or she is familiar with. help our boys and girls be friends early enough

4. let us reintroduce the rustic justice system.

 courts and lawyers need not be bothered with silly cases of misbehaviour. a small village committee will do . if a girl complains call the boy and warn him . first in private and then in public. in most cases this is enough. only thing. start with the first instance. before it becomes a habit . which is difficult to cure.

5. mingle and make it a habit. 

keeping aloof is no safety. mingle with as many people as possible like neighbours colleagues friends relatives et al . thus increase your support among good people. which should scare away the criminals.

6. wear your confidence. 

a girl looks good when she is confident.  with a no nonsense air . and a stay away signal which  the criminal can easily detect.  stay confident and show it too.

7. No threat is any threat.

 He says he will post your pictures online. Let him. Cyber cell functions effectively these days. Detection is 100%. conviction  too is almost the same. He can spend a decade in jail. Society too has changed a lot. Nobody is going to cast you out. A nude photo or an intimate video on the net is no big deal. So if anyone tries to blackmail you ask him to get lost.
