legal paradox

i read this puzzle in facebook recently . claims it still remains a paradox in legal circles.

a law student completes his degree borrowings funds from his teacher . to be repaid once he wins a case in the court.

as is the new normal he fails to repay the loan for a long  time. teacher files a case in the court.

the teacher calculated that even if he loses the case he would get repayment from the student as he would then be winning the case. so repayment is assured in either case.

the student took the line that if the teacher loses the case he would forfeit his right to demand repayment . if the teacher wins then he loses and the repayment enabling condition remains unfulfilled . . either way no repayment.

apparently sound arguments but in diagonally opposite directions.that is the paradox.   you are asked to deliver a judgement in the case.

there are two specific things for consideration  in this case. the loan agreement and the court case. mixing them up was probably the mistake and that is why this remains a paradox. let's consider them separately and independently .

first the court case. the teacher filed this case expecting to benefit from both the outcomes , winning or loosing . that probably is not acceptable in legal disputes. so he loses the cases and his right to receive repayment.

take the loan agreement now . the student is bound to pay back the debt legally . the agreement clearly says that . may be the time it devolves is  a variable parameter . but that doesn't absolve him of the responsibility to pay back the debt.

so the conclusion is that the student is bound to pay the debt back to the teacher who has no right  to receive it.

almost like our democracy . we are bound to vote for someone who doesn't deserve it .  a paradox in the real sense . and that is what caught my attention.

sorry for making you read this crap . may be once in a while anything ok . bye

motion sensor lights

halonix motion sensor lights . detects motion all around , even behind a wall . that probably is the only drawback . price is reasonable . made in india . switches off in the day . stays  on for just enough time.  overall a good product. reasonable price too.

Robotic vacuum cleaner

Good use of technology for convenience. Automatic charging , edge detection .

Random motion for covering the floor . Goo enugh for normal use . In higher priced versions it is scan and plan .

It can swipe too with a separate water tank . Neat operations to say the least .

Main worry was whether the battery will hold. Mine is about an year old . Works fine till date .

A little high priced at rs 25k . But worth owning it for the novelty if not the utility .

Main drawback , still unresolved , is the repair service . No idea where I can get it repaired if it fails.  I sent an email to ilifecare who is listed as the service agents. No reply at all .

If they come up with a dependable service centre in Ernakulam I will have no hesitation to recommend this product , 5v pro version of the robotic floor sweeper

women's day thoughts

M K Mathai lisma52@gmail.com

Sat, Mar 7, 9:56 AM (2 days ago)
to M
international women's day.

'let our women be a little more equal'
seems to be a good slogan.

 1. make our girls brave.

start early. do not instill fear in them when they are children . this is for the parents to ensure. especially mothers. here in kerala i have live examples of how girls are taught to be afraid . of many things. from the day they learn to listen and understand.

 2. keep up a running dialogue.

there is nothing that a girl or a   boy for that matter should not share with us parents. we know that . but they don't. at that age. find and use methods to encourage children to share everything with parents. again another action point for parents.

3. let them meet .

it is important for  boys and girls to meet and know each other especially in their teens. keeping them in unisex schools or colleges does more harm than good. familiarity breeds respect. none dares to misbehave with someone he or she is familiar with. help our boys and girls be friends early enough

4. let us reintroduce the rustic justice system.

courts and lawyers need not be bothered with silly cases of misbehaviour. a small village committee will do . if a girl complains call the boy and warn him . first in private and then in public. in most cases this is enough. only thing. start with the first instance. before it becomes a habit . which is difficult to cure.

5. mingle and make it a habit.

keeping aloof is no safety. mingle with as many people as possible like neighbours colleagues friends relatives et al . thus increase your support among good people. which should scare away the criminals.

6. wear your confidence.

a girl looks good when she is confident.  with a no nonsense air . and a stay away signal which  the criminal can easily detect.  stay confident and show it too.

7. No threat is any threat.

He says he will post your pictures online. Let him. Cyber cell functions effectively these days. Detection is 100%. conviction  too is almost the same. He can spend a decade in jail. Society too has changed a lot. Nobody is going to cast you out. A nude photo or an intimate video on the net is no big deal. So if anyone tries to blackmail you ask him to get lost.
.........
women's day suggestions consolidated. To achieve the goal ‘ let our women be a little more equal’ .

 7. No threat is any threat. So if anyone tries to blackmail you ask him to get lost.

 6. wear your confidence. stay confident and show it too.

 5. socialise and make it a habit. thus increase your support among good people .

 4. let us reintroduce the rustic justice system. avoid courts. a small village committee will do .

 3. let them mingle. familiarity breeds respect. help our boys and girls be friends early enough.

 2. keep up a running dialogue.  encourage children to share everything with parents.

 1. make our girls brave.  do not instill fear in them when they are children .

rain drops are weeping

kudappana a rare sight these days

kudappana . with just one majestic flower bunch from its head it will end its long life on earth .
